The Addict - A Poem

From LoveToKnow Recovery

A case of alcohol poisoning

The Addict

The Addict is a robber.

The addict is an intruder.

The addict turns up in the light of day.

The addict arrives through the front door not a window.

The addict makes itself a home in those we knew and loved ….

The addict arrives in familiar packages to unsuspecting families…

The addict is an impostor.

The addict is a fraud.

The addict wears a mask.

The addict is a grandmother.

The addict is a brother.

The addict is a child.

The addict steals families.

The addict steals hearts.

The addict steals trust.

The addict steals childhood's.

The addict steals hope.

The addict steals love.

The addict steals friendships.

The addict steals souls.

The addict is a thief.
