Drug Treatment Programs
From LoveToKnow Recovery
Since an overwhelming amount of drug treatment programs are available, picking one that best suits your needs is often hard to do. For example, the Hazeldon treatment center offers several programs that cater to the differing needs of each patient.
Drug Treatment Programs at Hazeldon
Getting an assessment done at a treatment center like Hazeldon, where several treatment options are offered, can help give each individual patient the best option for his/her problems.
An assessment is offered either face-to-face or over the phone. Recommendations are given about the kind of substance abuse treatment the person needs. In addition to recommending their own services, Hazeldon will also try to find providers in the client’s home area upon request.
Hazeldon has centers across the United States. They are located in Minnesota, Oregon, New York, and Illinois. Online community support is also available for those who wish to join.
Programs at Hazeldon focus on treating not only the addiction, but the whole person. All of the counselors and doctors are licensed for practice in the state in which the center is located in. Nurses staff the centers around the clock. Cost of the programs depends on the type needed and length of time necessary. Sometimes insurance will cover partial costs; check with individual providers to learn more. Financial aid is available in some instances.
The kinds of drug treatment programs available at Hazeldon include adult inpatient, inpatient treatment for women, inpatient treatment for healthcare professionals, nonresidential treatment, outpatient, adult inpatient extended care, and adult inpatient intermediate care.
Adult Inpatient Treatment
Adult inpatient treatment programs focus on structured activities. Peer interaction, individual counseling, and group therapy are emphasized. Additionally, specialty groups can be utilized: eating issues, cognitive behavioral therapy, women and men’s issues, and 12-step programs.
The need for a patient to live a healthy, well-rounded lifestyle is addressed. Nutritional meals are provided, as well as relaxation time and exercise. Lectures and educational activities are planned along with fellowship time and group therapy.
Inpatient Treatment for Women
Women have special concerns when it comes to substance abuse. Often, it is hard for women to put their own needs ahead of others. They may feel shame and guilt. Studies show that significant portions of women who are addicts have suffered from emotional or physical abuse. Hazeldon believes that women who fit these categories respond better to a woman-only environment. Individualized treatment is made based on the needs of each woman.
Inpatient Treatment for Healthcare Professionals=
Doctors, nurses, and other professionals in the healthcare field have unique needs when it comes to substance abuse. They have better defense mechanisms and present challenges in recovery. Hazeldon works with state diversion and monitoring programs to help these professionals.
Hazeldon offers eight levels of care based on the needs of the patient and the referring program. A return-to-work evaluation is done at the end of treatment. A semi-weekly Healthcare Professionals group meeting is offered.
Nonresidential Day Treatment
This differs from an outpatient program in the level of intensity. Patients are in a daily program Monday through Friday for four to six weeks. Assessment, lectures, and different therapies are used. The patients who qualify for this program must be in good health, have a supportive home and work environment, and not need medically-supervised detox or stabilization.
Outpatient Program
For qualified patients, the outpatient program provides a more flexible environment. Day, evening, and weekend programs are available. As in all programs, lectures, therapy, 12-step programs, and other forms of treatment may be used. Addicts in this program will receive continuing care recommendations along with their individualized treatment. Qualifiers must be in good health, not need medical detox, and have support at home and work.
Adult Inpatient Extended Care
This program is offered for people with complex recovery issues. It continues the work begun in the primary treatment program. It may focus on mental health issues, relapse prevention, and sober living skills. It provides the patients with the time to practice new skills and realize what is needed to fully recover from their drug addiction.
Adult Inpatient Intermediate Care
This program is only available at the Fellowship Center in Minnesota. It focuses on developing skills for sober living. Vocational, spiritual, emotional, and social abilities are practiced. It is a step down from the primary or extended care program, but it still provides a structured environment. Relapse prevention and individual continued care programs are another focus.

Comments
My partner is using crystal meth and its destroying his and our lives. We are gay, over 40, professionals. I am thinking that the inpatient treatment may be the best alternative and it should be far from home (GA).
